Well it is time for me to let go of my beautiful '97 Cobra. The car is in wonderful condition and I'm willing to let it go for a very fair price. This car does hold a very special and sentimental meaning to me so I would love to see it go to someone who is really going to appreciate it (PLEASE BUILD IT!). My brother purchased the car back in 2003 with my father and it was his absolute pride and joy ever since his unexpected passing in April 2007. The miles I believe were around 50-60k when he purchased it and now the odometer sits at 99,4XX miles. There has been LESS than 200 miles put on this car over the entire winter. I baby this car and love taking care of it obviously. However, I do apologize for the engine bay looking so dirty! I hate WINTER!
The car was left to me by my brother and when I received it the paint was chipping from the roof and the rear bumper. This is rather common, as I have seen quite a few Cobras shed their paint the same exact way. Apparently, Ford didn't supply the greatest paint job they could have for all of the Cobras which led to this. Anyhow no worries, since then I have had the car re-painted black and its beautiful as you can see in the pictures. Sure it has its minor defects as all paint jobs do, but with a good wash and wax, it grabs attention everywhere you go. The engine bay is still white but could be touched up very easily and turned to black. My original plans for the car were to build it once the paint job was finished and complete the engine bay while I had the motor out. However, I became overly busy with school, work and my family which led to me never being able to carry out my plans for the car.
As for body defects, there is a small dent on the right quarter panel from someone dinging it in a parking lot. If you look in the pictures, it is barely noticeable and could be fixed for practically nothing. The rims and tires are only about a year old and still have great tread life. The rim/tire combo cost me a little over $1,000 which are 17" black FR500 rims wrapped in 245 Sumitomo HTR Z II's in the front and 275's in the back on a 10.5 deep dish rim. With the black on black scheme, people like to gawk to say the least.
The car runs absolutely perfect and very, very strong. It is the perfect car for a beginner or someone with serious racing intentions. The CEL light is on due to no MIL eliminators but this is obviously no big deal at all. With the current exhaust setup, it has a very aggressive tone and sounds very mean. If people don't see the car at first, they do when they hear the rumble from the exhaust. The car has been maintained meticulously with only Mothers and Meguiars cleaning products and given no abuse. The paint is only a year and a half old so it shines great. Like I said before, this thing gets nothing but compliments. The leather is in great shape. The usual wear on the drivers seat is present along with a small rip on the side of seat towards the door, but still looks good. The back seats look brand new. The stereo system sounds pristine and has not one problem.
The car has never had any power adders and is just dying to be built which is what I'm hoping the buyer will do with it. If not, it will make a wonderful daily driver or cruiser. As I mentioned above, I was going to build her but I have decided to put the cash down on a Terminator and make it a tribute to my brother. Ever since my brother went for a ride in his friends Whippled 04, he wanted one so badly and was in the process of getting one so I'm going to carry out his plans.
