Listing Description Back to top
Hi. I have a 1971 Ford Maverick (Not a Grabber) for sale. But it's not ANY maverick, It's a rare one.

This particular maverick came from the factory in a non-ford color, Purple. You had to custom order it, and it was probably borrowed from Chrysler (Plum Crazy Purple). Their are only 2 of these cars known to exist.. The other is in Texas. (This one was ordered in Spokane, I believe).

I have had a LOT of interest in this car over the year i have had it. Even had a maverick/comet magazine wanting to do a story on it once it was restored.

To make the car even odder, It has a V8 (Rare for a non-grabber), and came with a Grabber interior (Bucket seats, Vinyl floor instead of carpeting), as well as a factory FLOOR-SHIFT automatic (Most are column shifters).

The car is a Project car. It needs some minor body work, and the interior needs redone. The car is currently BLUE (But the 'hidden' places are still purple.. Such as the door sills, inside the trunk, and the firewall).

It's fenders need replaced (previous owner fixed dents with Bondo, then painted over it...It looks like crap.), but the rest of the body is solid (minus a little rust on the door)

It has two major problems that need attention immediatly:

-The roof used to be a vinyl top, but that deteriorated and it is now unprotected. It has 2 small rust holes (each about the side of a pencil), but is still solid. A new vinyl top costs about $120. I would have fixed this before now, But i don't have a proper place to sand the roof.

-The windshield leaks. It needs new weatherstripping (about $100).

Other then that, theirs minor rust in typical places, Nothing irrepairable. (back, above the tail lights. one spot on the door. and the drivers floor has rusted through in one spot.). The interior is built for bucket seats, But the previous owner swapped in a bench seat that doesn't bolt properly. ( you can swap in some Mitsubishi eclipse seats from a junk yard... they are nearly interchangable from what i hear.).

THE CAR DOES RUN..Almost. It's a strong runner, But i think the fuel filter or pump is bad. I will be replacing the filter, and seeing if that fixes it. Other then that, I have replaced the Carb (2bbl), Distributor, voltage regulator, battery, battery cables, front brakes, and gave it a tune up (Plus other things I am probably forgetting.).

I love the car, But i need to sell because I failed to get its leaks fixed before summer ended, and I don't have a place to store it through winter (And its roof won't make it another oregon winter.). My loss, your gain!

I WILL NOT SELL THIS CAR AS PARTS. You must be interested in restoring it, as that is the only way I will let it go.

$1500 obo.

Willing to consider trades for a Toyota MR2, or other RWD/AWD car or 4x4.

Also, I have no way to tow it... So it would have to be local, or you'd have to be willing to travel.
